Coalition for Healthy and Safe Communities

The Sussex County Coalition for Healthy & Safe Families was formed in 1998. The Coalition is comprised of community leaders and other concerned persons of all ages who have enthusiastically come together with a singularity of purpose, a shared vision, and the highest level of commitment to help every family in Sussex County to be healthy and safe, free from the effects of substance abuse and addiction.

The Center for Prevention and Counseling is a founding member and sponsor of the Sussex County Red Ribbon Day PerformanceCoalition for Healthy and Safe Communities (SCCHSC) which is part of the National Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America. It is dedicated to reducing the extent of youth use of drugs, thereby reducing the incidence of teen violence and the transmission of HIV/AIDS. The Sussex County Coalition for Healthy and Safe Communities has an unprecedented record in uniting our community to accomplish this goal.

Our Goals

  • To enhance prevention planning and collaboration among all segments of the community by strengthening and supporting the efforts of the Coalition
  • To reduce the use of drugs by Sussex County youth by 10% over five years

The Coalition meets on a monthly basis (see our events page for meeting dates). The monthly meetings affords the opportunity for members and guests to learn something new, share information about projects or events and discuss and develop solutions for community issues.
