Mind Your Recovery: Lunch ‘n Learn  Want to learn another tool for prevention, recovery and life? Come to the Center for Prevention and Counseling on Friday, June 21 for a “Mindfulness Meditation” workshop from 12 – 1PM. Discover a simple practice which has helped many people, not only those who have addictive disorders. Learn new strategies, behaviors and attitudes for yourself or to share with others about how to cope more skillfully with the inevitable ups and downs of life. Rev. Janice Billera, Spiritual Leader at Unity of Sussex County, will facilitate this free one hour workshop where she will share creative ways to bring mindfulness and compassion to the choices and decisions that support life and recovery. Light refreshments will be available and you may bring your lunch, if you wish, to the second floor classroom at 61 Spring Street with convenient parking in the Trinity Street lot. Professional Development Credits will be provided. Please contact Ayla at the Center for Prevention and Counseling at (973)383-4787 to reserve a spot, as space is limited. This community workshop is funded by the County of Sussex.

Summer Family Fun Camp is a free program for the whole family that focuses on connecting family members through great activities and games to bring your family closer and build upon everyone’s unique set of skills. The program provides support for parents as well as interactive groups for children ages 5-11 and for teens aged 12-17 years old focusing on enhancing communication skills between family members while helping the family increase their ability to express feelings and concerns to one another. Lunch refreshments will be provided and, additionally, free child-care is offered for children under 5 years old. While we encourage families to attend all 14 sessions, a family can attend 8 sessions and still graduate. A new Summer Family Fun group is starting on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons July 2, 2013, from 12 noon to 1:30pm at the Merriam Avenue School. Spaces are filling up quickly! For more information or to register please contact Natalie at The Center for Prevention and Counseling at 973-383-4787.
