Coordinated School Health

The Coordinated School Health Program is an eight component Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) model that systematically incorporates nutrition, family, community, staff wellness, health and physical education, counseling and health services and healthy school environment. In collaboration with Partners in Prevention of Hudson County, the Coordinated School Health Program assists middle and high schools in Newton, Andover and Green, as well as in Union City, to reduce obesity, increase physical activity and address many social concerns present in the lives of the students served. The program additionally provides staff and faculty wellness programs.  With schools acting as anchors for the program, many of the communities’ media, religious, health care and recreational organizations participate in maintaining the well-being of the young people and staff of the schools being served. For more information call 973-383-4787 or email Coordinated School Health.

Through the Sober Truth on Preventing Underage Drinking (STOP) Act grant, we develop, assess, and implement effective strategies to prevent and reduce underage drinking. Using the Surgeon General’s Call to Action to Prevent and Reduce Underage Drinking as a model, the strategies we employ include changing local attitudes and norms, and reevaluating existing laws and policies around underage drinking. For more information, call 973-383-4787 or email STOP.
