"Other things may change us, but we begin and end in this world with family." Anthony Brand

Strengthening Families includes the WHOLE family...parents, children 6 years and older and teens 13 to 17 years old. Free child care is provided for children under 6.

Experience fun group activities for the whole family - dinner is included for the whole family! (No cooking for a night!)

Strengthening Families is curriculum and research based. The focus of the education is enhancing communication skills between family members and helping the family to increase their ability to express their feelings and concerns to one another.
Every family struggles from time to time with these issues. This is why the program is so practical for any family.

This program is open to any family in Sussex County. There is no cost to participating families.

Goals of the Strengthening Families Program:

Families will learn to:

  • Communicate more clearly, honestly and openly with one another

  • Develop listening skills to enhance family communication

  • Identify, express and accept each other's feelings

  • Understand the phases of normal child/adolescent growth and development

  • Understand the effects of alcohol/drug abuse on family members

  • Enhance decision making and problem solving skills

  • Develop effective conflict resolution and disciplinary skills

  • Develop a sense of family responsibility, interdependence and cooperation

  • Have fun together!
